才仁巴毛，52岁，青海玉树州结隆乡杂年村人。一家5口人。家有18头（只）牛羊。其夫2000年因病离世，口粮主要靠政府救济。经济来源靠采挖虫草，去年有500元收入。二女儿巴青才仁，12岁，没读过书，三年前患胆囊炎病无钱医治。

嘎松卓玛，24岁，青海玉树州结隆乡杂年村人。家里牲畜全部死于1995年底的一场雪灾。1996年政府和国际慈善机构先后救济其全家5头牛。现家里已有10头牛，但吃粮还是靠政府救济。

刘引引，31岁，甘肃陇西县福星乡鹿鹤村人。全家6口人，8亩地。去年大旱颗粒无收，其夫外出打工贴补家用。陇西县地处干旱、半干旱的黄土高原丘陵地区，吃水靠雨水。家穷建不起水窖，她每天要到2里地以外的大山沟中挑水吃，挑一担水需要一个小时。
